I called the company and received a warm human in the other end. A few moments and WhatsApp messages later, a car was effortlessly arranged for me the next day. I arrived, met another warm human who gave me a wonderful automatic car and let me go within 5 minutes of paperwork. I didn’t have to go through the typical 15-20 minutes of deciding what kind of insurance to get - it was all included, for 200 euros for 4 days. I dropped the keys off this morning and they wished me well upon arrival, and I was off to the airport in 2 minutes. This is 100% the most effortless, human and warm experience I’ve ever had with a car rental. It’s my first time in Crete, and I have such a positive impression of Crete and its people now.
